Book cover

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Well, here, we absolutely do!

We look at everything: whether it’s beautiful, simple, or elaborate; whether the colors and typography work well together; what message it conveys; what clues it gives us about the story; and — most importantly — whether it makes us want to pick up the book and read!

Personally, I’m a total book-cover nosy parker! When it comes to covers, I want to notice every little detail. That’s why creating a beautiful cover for your story is such an important part of what I do.

How does the process work?

First, you’ll fill out a form with some initial information about your project (or, if you prefer, we can schedule a virtual meeting). Based on that information, I’ll prepare a project proposal for you. Once the proposal has been approved and the booking is confirmed, we’ll begin the creative process:

Briefing → Sketch → Development → Delivery

1. Briefing

First, you’ll let me read the manuscript and/or give me a detailed pitch about your book. I want all the details! You’ll also fill out a questionnaire to help me fully understand the book’s concept and target audience. Who are the characters involved? What are they like? What are they doing? Which characteristics are important to the story? How do you envision the setting, composition, and atmosphere of the scene? Is there any object, element, or detail that needs to be included?

At this stage, you’ll also share your references, preferences, and inspirations with me. And, of course, the dimensions of the book, if it’s a print edition!

2. Sketches

At this stage, I’ll develop different possibilities for the cover. You’ll receive at least two sketches by email within seven business days, along with the concept behind each proposal.

At this point, the drawings and/or compositions are still quite simple. This is the time to test ideas, explore different possibilities, and figure out which direction works best for the story. Based on your feedback, we’ll refine the proposals until we arrive at the ideal concept to be developed into the final artwork.

I’ll also ask you to provide the materials needed for the cover composition, such as the author’s photo and bio, key quotes or taglines, the publisher’s logo, and any other information that needs to appear on the cover.

3. Development

Once we’ve agreed on and approved the concept, I’ll begin developing the final artwork in greater detail, working on colors, settings, lighting, textures, and composition. I’ll also choose a typeface that complements the cover’s visual identity and make sure all the elements work together in harmony.

At this stage, you’ll be entitled to up to two rounds of revisions, as long as they remain within the previously approved concept.

4. Delivery

Once everything has been approved, I’ll prepare the final high-resolution files in PNG and PDF formats. You’ll also receive some of the sketches created throughout the process, as well as a commercial license to use the cover.

Oh, and as a bonus, you’ll receive a Reels-style video showcasing some details from the cover creation process, so you can promote your book on social media.

This service can be booked as a standalone service or as part of a complete project.
