Illustration

This service is ideal for illustrations that accompany the text without necessarily interacting with the book’s layout. It can also include artwork derived from the story, such as promotional materials, posters, bookmarks, merchandise, and other creative assets. I also create standalone illustrations, such as portraits and fan art. Please note: I do not accept NSFW commissions.

How does the illustration process work?

To get started, you’ll fill out a form with the initial information about the illustration (or set of illustrations) you’d like to commission, such as the quantity, format, dimensions, and, if the project is for a book, a synopsis of the story. Based on this information, I’ll prepare and email you a project proposal. Once the proposal has been approved, we’ll begin the creative process, which takes place in four stages:

Briefing → Sketch → Development → Delivery

1. Briefing

During the briefing, you’ll tell me what you envision for your illustration and everything you’d like it to convey: the characters’ features and expressions, the setting, the atmosphere of the scene, the elements you’d like to see represented, and so on.

If the illustration is part of a book, you can send me the manuscript or give me a detailed pitch. From there, we can talk about the key moments in the story and what makes sense within the narrative. And don’t worry if you’re not sure how to explain exactly what you want. Part of my job is to interpret your ideas and bring them to life visually.

At this stage, you can also share references, inspirations, color palettes, or anything else that might help translate what you have in mind into an image. Finally, we’ll align on the practical details of the project, such as dimensions and format.

2. Sketches

Based on the briefing, I’ll explore different possibilities for your illustration. For each scene, I’ll create at least two different sketches and send them to you by email, along with a brief explanation of the concept and the choices behind each idea.

The drawings will still be simple, and the composition won’t be finalized yet, because this is the stage where we explore different possibilities. We can experiment with different framing, poses, expressions, settings, and more. Based on your impressions and feedback, we’ll adjust and refine the ideas. Once we’ve arrived at the ideal concept, it will move on to the next stage: the development of the illustration.

3. Development

At this stage, I’ll develop the illustration in greater detail and finish it with shadows and textures. You’ll be entitled to up to two rounds of revisions at this stage, as long as the requested changes are related to the concept previously approved during the sketching stage. Once the revisions are complete and the illustration has been approved, all the elements will be finalized and we’ll move on to the final stage: delivery.

4. Delivery

In the final stage, you’ll receive the finished files, ready for their intended use, along with some of the sketches created during the process. As a bonus, you’ll also receive a Reels-style video showcasing details from the illustration process, which you can use to promote your work on social media if you’d like.
