How about taking your story from your computer screen and turning it into a book ready to make its way into the world?

With the Full Project, you’ll commission the complete visual design of your book, including interior illustrations, book layout and design, small illustrated elements, and the cover — all as one cohesive project.

How does the service work?

First, you’ll fill out a form with information about your project or, if you prefer, we can schedule a virtual meeting to talk about your book. Based on this information, I’ll prepare a project proposal with different package options.

Please note: to officially book the project, the written content must be complete and edited, as I need the full manuscript to begin the work. If you’re still writing, you can absolutely request a quote based on an estimated word count. This way, you can already get an idea of the available package options and investment, and once your manuscript is ready, we can move forward with the booking.

Once the proposal has been approved and the project has been booked, we’ll begin the creative process. Since every book has different needs, the timeline and stages may vary depending on the project. In general, however, the process follows this path:

Briefing → Storyboard → Illustrations → Book Design → Cover → Delivery

1. Briefing

You’ll send me the edited manuscript and all the elements that will be part of the publication, such as the dedication, acknowledgments, author photos, and, if applicable, the publisher’s logo, cataloging information, and so on.

You’ll also give me a detailed pitch of the story, so I can get to know the tone of the narrative, the characters, the settings, and the atmosphere, as well as understand the target audience. I’ll also ask you to share references and inspirations. And, of course, I’ll need the book’s technical specifications, such as its dimensions, page count, and publication format.

If you haven’t decided yet, no problem! I can recommend suitable formats, and we can choose the best option together.

2. Storyboard

Based on the briefing, I’ll begin by researching cultural and historical references that can contribute to building the story’s world. I’ll then develop the character designs and distribute the content across the pages. This is where the storyboard comes in: a simplified representation of all the pages in the book that allows us to visualize the sequence of scenes, the pacing of the narrative, and the relationship between text and image before moving on to the final illustrations. Based on your impressions and feedback, we’ll adjust and refine the project. This stage may involve several rounds of email exchanges as we explore the possibilities. Once we arrive at the ideal concept, we’ll move on to the next stage.

3. Illustrations

Once the sketches have been approved, I’ll begin creating the final illustrations and present them to you by email. You’ll be entitled to up to two rounds of revisions for each illustration at this stage, as long as the requested changes are related to the concept previously approved during the sketching stage.

4. Book Design

Once the illustrations have been approved, I’ll begin designing and laying out the book, making sure the typography, text, and images work together harmoniously to create a pleasant and fluid reading experience. This is also the stage where I’ll develop the small illustrated elements that are part of the project, such as chapter openers, drop caps, vignettes, ornaments, and other details.

I’ll also organize the front matter and back matter and take care of all the technical aspects of the layout, including margins, spacing, information hierarchy, and the distribution of elements throughout the pages. You’ll be entitled to up to four rounds of revisions at this stage, as long as the requested changes are related to the previously approved proposal.

5. Cover

Finally, we’ll move on to the cover. I’ll develop different possibilities, and you’ll receive at least two sketches by email, along with the concepts behind each proposal. Based on your feedback, we’ll refine the proposals until we arrive at the ideal concept to be developed into the final artwork.

Once the sketch has been approved, we’ll move on to the cover’s finalization. At this stage, you’ll be entitled to up to two rounds of revisions, as long as the requested changes remain within the previously approved concept.

6. What Do You Receive?

At the end of the project, you’ll receive the final files, ready to be sent to the printer! As a bonus, you’ll also receive Reels-style videos showcasing details from the creation process of each illustration and the cover, so you can promote your book on social media.
